Voice over IP (VoIP) allows for free telephone calls.
Although there are a lot of other service available on the Internet, we have focused on only Free or Freeware sites and applications.
- What kind of equipment is needed?
There are three types of Voice over IP configurations:
- Computer to Computer - This allows two computers that are both connected to the Internet to call one anther and speak.
- Computer to Telephone - From your computer you place a call to a standard telephone (sometimes refered to as a land line).
- Telephone to Telephone - From your comptuer you tell the Internet what telephone number you are at and the telephone number you want to call. Your phone rings, and then the person you want to calling has their telephone ring, establishing a standard telephone conversation.
