Crossover Cable

This document shows how to properly construct a Crossover (or MBIX) network cable. This cable can be used to cascade hubs, for connecting two Ethernet stations back-to-back without a hub, or connecting two CSU/DSU's back to back for testing Wide Area Network (WAN) configuration. This crossover cable will work for 10BASE-T & 100BASE-TX. NOTE: You cannot use crossover cables on 100BASE-T4 devices. Use Category 5 unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) cable. The maximum cable distance between the port and the attached device is 100 meters (328 feet), including all patch cables, panels, and connectors.
